It’s hard starting a business. There are so many things you have to think about, and as much as you know you can or feel you could do them all yourself, we sometimes have to delegate to someone who can get the job done.
When I first got the bus, I thought about everything I could do – like I felt I could have done the plumbing. But as I have watched this project form – I can’t believe I thought that! I think this bus is exciting, and even more, it provides something people need and want. When I tell people about the business, they always get excited. I get lots of opinions and “you should do this” - lots of different events listed off to me – and I hope one day I will get to take the bus to every one of them. But I’m starting Slow. It is a good thing I have had this mindset, because this idea, this project has been a huge lesson in patience and waiting.
She is worth the wait.
At the beginning of July, I decided to move the bus to a new conversion team. This team is mainly one guy working on her, but he is backed by a “team” a larger company, that can create what I am asking for. Not that the other team couldn’t - just I think the project reached a point where it became over their head. She is an exciting build for people who turn buses or trucks into cool mobile units. And knowing it’s for massage – makes it even better – she is a healing bus!
The bus has had a lot of progress been made on her, but still more to go. Plumbing had to be rerouted, and a few other odd and end things had to be remodified. But I know they are working as hard as they can to get her done, and knowing that they are making sure everything is in working order means the world to me.
My personal Facebook account and The Spa Lot’s Facebook page recently got “locked out” due to suspicious activity. The problem is their links, buttons and all the things to “get identified” to unlock the accounts are not working. It sends me codes, then the codes don’t work. I just stopped. I stopped trying after a week and took it as a sign that I just needed to let go, and start new accounts. Yes, it sucks – but it’s not the end of the world.
Again, it’s hard starting a new business especially one you can’t model off of locally. The Spa Lot is the first in Norman – and I believe in Oklahoma. There will be ups and downs, it will be a whole learning process – but because I believe in this concept so much, I am willing to wait for everything to come together. It will be worth the wait in the long run.
